Intimate and other close relationships can add a richness and joy to our lives that is difficult to duplicate elsewhere. That said, relationships are not always easy. When we are not hearing each other clearly, misunderstanding, hurt feelings, and confusion are often the result. When conflict surfaces, tensions can make it difficult to express our real concerns to our partners.
If you are feeling disconnected, going through difficult change, or feeling unheard by your partner, counseling can be a great process to uncover and overcome obstacles in your way. My goal in relationship counseling is to provide a safe and warm environment where concerns can be addressed, and positive change can be facilitated. Through stories and interviews, we’ll create a context for each partner to hear and be heard in ways they have not yet been heard.
Typical issues include:
- Maintaining independence in a committed relationship
- Fear of growing apart
- Sex
- Jealousy, mistrust, and infidelity.
- Divorce and separation
- Blended families
